Venture Motion needed more space, more privacy and better access on a strict budget.

Terry Chiu, founder and Managing Director of Venture Motion, initially contacted LEVEL following an AI investment seminar. He had begun to consider a new office space after making a connection with several investor principals at the event.
He got in touch with Joe Averill, founder of LEVEL Workspace, after receiving many recommendations from mutual contacts on LinkedIn.
Terry said: “I first engaged with LEVEL back in 2023, and after a brief chat with Joe he introduced me to Sam Harris via email. We ended up staying in our original office for just shy of an extra year whilst we had a think about what we wanted to do.
“Sam kept in touch, however, I never felt pressured to make a decision or that he was trying to sell to us. It was clear his focus was more on building a relationship, which I really appreciated.”
When the time came to find a new office space to rent in Manchester city centre, Terry returned to Sam and LEVEL Workspace to take the next steps.
Venture Motion was previously located in a small space opposite John Rylands Library that was in reality a project management office.The team mostly work remotely and so didn’t need an especially large space, but their old office was still not providing what they wanted.
When the team were in, the space didn’t offer any privacy. If they wanted to work together they had to go downstairs and use the communal space that was always full of freelancers.
Additionally, the parking situation was far from ideal and made it tricky for people who drove to get in and out of the office, particularly when you take Manchester’s one way system into account.
With all that in mind, the need for a more private space that allowed the team to collaborate without distractions was needed. It had to be more easily accessible and offer convenient parking nearby.
It also had to make sense from a budget perspective. While they were moving for good reasons, it wasn’t viewed as absolutely essential, so it wouldn’t make sense to spend any more than their existing outlay on the old workspace.
Finally, it had to be in Manchester city centre. The stunning view over John Rylands Library from their previous workspace had proven to be an outstanding talking point with clients in the past. The thought of losing it had initially made the Venture Motion team hesitant to move at all.
Terry said: “That view often served as an icebreaker with clients and reinforced our identity as a Manchester-based agency. Maintaining that central Manchester feel was essential for our agency's image. It wasn’t about outgrowing the old office but rather finding a space that better aligned with our evolving needs.”
By staying in touch with Terry over the course of 2023, Sam and the LEVEL team were in a great position to make a quick start when the time came for Venture Motion to move.
After an initial call to go through requirements, Sam sent over a search list within 24 hours for Terry and his team to review. Viewings were arranged quickly and we took Venture Motion to see a total of six spaces.
Terry said: “Sam was incredibly approachable, and I genuinely felt that both he and Joe had our best interests at heart.
"Sam really understood my needs, the pain points we were facing, and why we wanted to move. At no point did I feel rushed or pushed into a decision.”
We were also able to work to Venture Motion’s budget. When the time came to select a space, Sam was able to negotiate the best possible deal. The end price mirrored what Venture Motion had been paying previously, but they got a bigger, more private space that felt like their own.

During our search for Venture Motion, this came to the forefront. One of the spaces we viewed was superficially appealing as it was far larger than the other options.
However, Sam advised Terry that it was actually too big for what Venture Motion needed and therefore might end up being a disadvantage for the company.
Terry said: “Sam pointed out that it might be too big for us and he was absolutely right it helped me refocus on what we actually needed. Sam always had our best interests at heart. He would be like, ‘what’s best for you Terry?’
“Overall we had a really great experience with LEVEL. The service was brilliant and we felt really looked after every step of the way.”
Venture Motion chose the Tootal Building by Orega which gave them everything they wanted from the move and more.
It offers them a bigger floorspace than what they had before, but it’s not too big for them. Additionally, it gives them that all important sense of privacy which they wanted to make collaboration easier.
It’s also in a fantastic, accessible location that is surrounded by plenty of eateries and parking options for staff. The views of Manchester add to the experience and ensure that they haven’t lost that ‘wow factor’ when clients visit their new office.
Terry said: “The space just feels bigger, and has of a grown up feel, which suits our needs perfectly. The décor is sophisticated, and the Orega customer service team is top-notch, which really makes a difference.
“The onboarding process with LEVEL was incredibly smooth, and Sam even reached out to me in the New Year to check how I was settling in and to ask if there was anything we needed. Overall, it has been a seamless experience.”
Furthermore, the office building itself also includes outstanding communal areas that Venture Motion have access to. The overall ambience of the building is another positive, providing a professional but relaxed feel.
