Back To Cases
Flowd outgrew its previous office space and needed a new headquarters in Manchester that was a true home for the business.
With a strong focus on deep personalisation, Flowd’s expert team finds the perfect leads for your business, organically nurtures them through strategic outreach, and books sales meetings directly into your team’s calendars while making sure you have all the information needed ahead of the pitch. All you have to do is show up.
This proven approach has driven exceptional growth, enabling Flowd to double in size each of the last three years and expand globally with offices in New York, USA, and Skopje, North Macedonia.
Their results speak volumes: over £35m in attributable revenue for clients, an impressive average ROI of 800%, and a pipeline value averaging £398,000. Flowd continues to redefine what success looks like in sales prospecting.
Despite only moving into their previous office last January, that success and growth meant the company was forced to look for a new home again before the end of the year.
Morgan Halliday, Operations Manager at Flowd, said: “At the time, we were a team of seven. Now, we’re a team of 16 and we physically can’t fit any more people in the space.”
With no plans to stop growing, Flowd needed a space which could accommodate further expansion without the need for another move in the near future. They wanted somewhere they could settle for the long term and appointed LEVEL to help them find it.
Flowd had a list of requirements beyond simply needing more space that would make finding the perfect office space a bigger challenge.
The Flowd management team has worked hard to create a positive environment that motivates the company’s employees. A survey of the company’s 40 staff members shows how successful this approach has been, with 100% of employees saying they enjoyed being in the office.
That made it vital that the new office would not only replicate that atmosphere, but also enhance it even further. They wanted an open layout with plenty of space for people to move around and work together, but also quiet areas where people could focus if needed.
More meeting rooms were also essential. Flowd regularly hosts clients and has calls with offices overseas, so they needed the flexibility to accommodate that. The company had just one meeting room at their previous office, but needed at least three.
They also wanted to stay within the city centre area to make it easier for the team to commute in and put them all close to Manchester’s outstanding bars, restaurants and cafes.
Finally, the space needed to feel like a real home for the business and its employees. The previous space was functional, but didn’t reflect their personality or culture. It had white walls and was quite plain, making it a poor match for the company’s energy and style.
Flowd decided to fix this in two ways. Firstly, with more communal and meeting room spaces for employees to take advantage of and spark creativity. Secondly, the modern aesthetic accompanied with the exposed brick giving the space more character and true Manchester feel.
Morgan said: “It's important to us to have a space that sparks creativity and supports flexibility. As a high-performing team, we wanted a workplace that reflects our energy and encourages fresh thinking. By adding different zones, we've created a place where our team can collaborate, innovate, and thrive in a way that drives both creativity and success.”
“The brick walls were definitely a big feature for Flow. We always knew we wanted that, and it just felt like the right fit for our vibe.”
One of the main benefits of using LEVEL Workspace is that we take all of the time consuming parts of the office search process off your plate – a big deal for the extremely busy team at Flowd.
Morgan said: “I didn’t have the time to search for offices, arrange viewings, and manage the entire process, especially in Manchester, where there seems to be an office on every corner. When Joe explained what LEVEL does, your values, and how you approach things, it felt like a perfect match.”
We began the process with an initial phone call to outline what Flowd needed, when they wanted to move and all their other requirements.
Joe Averill, Managing Director of LEVEL Workspace, then visited the office to tour their existing space and meet the team. Understanding the people behind the business is absolutely vital for LEVEL. It helps us get a feel for what’s important and what sort of aesthetic or vibe will be a good fit when looking for the ideal new office.
Using all the information we had gathered from everyone at Flowd, we arranged nine visits to a range of spaces over the course of three days.
Morgan said: “As a growing company, finding the right space is crucial, but it’s also a time consuming process. What really stood out to us is how LEVEL handled everything seamlessly.
“You took care of all the legwork while still keeping us involved, so we felt informed every step of the way. Joe was instrumental in managing all the details, which made the process smooth and stress-free.”
“I can confidently say that I would recommend LEVEL to any business that needs a new office.”
The list was quickly narrowed down to two options, although one stood out from the crowd.
Calico on Mosley Street immediately grabbed the imagination of the Flowd team.
Morgan said: “I remember the first time we walked into this office, we knew it was the one!”
Everything about the space fitted with exactly what the Flowd team were looking for. The city centre location means there are plenty of great food spots nearby, it's right next to the tram, and it's not too far from their previous office which made the transition easy.
The space itself also had the open-plan layout Flowd wanted along with meeting rooms, communal spaces and a range of defined spaces which offered privacy and a sense of belonging.
Morgan said: “The space is divided beautifully, with meeting rooms, a calling area, a kitchen, and a large open creative space. There are desks, high tables, and sofa areas creating a diverse environment, with plenty of natural light and stunning exposed brick walls, which were a must-have for us.
“It’s the perfect space for our brand and gives us room to grow, but it also doesn’t feel too big or overwhelming. It felt just right from the start.”
However, it wasn’t only the practical aspects that were right – Calico also had the right vibe and aesthetic for Flowd.
Morgan said: “As soon as Ash and I opened the door, we were both struck by how amazing it smelled. The atmosphere was modern, neutral, and inviting, with tasteful artwork that gave the space character. Even the reception area had a welcoming feel, and the receptionist was so friendly. We both immediately felt this was the kind of space that we’d love to be in.”
Once Flowd had chosen their preferred space, it was up to Joe and the LEVEL team to begin negotiations and ensure that it was secured within budget.
Flowd had a six month window to find their new home and a good budget, but Manchester can be an expensive city and prices are often high.
LEVEL’s expertise in the market offers businesses an advantage. We know how to negotiate with landlords and use our exceptional market knowledge to find every advantage we can for our clients.
In the case of Flowd, the initial quotes they received were higher than they were expecting and it required tireless negotiation from Joe and the LEVEL team to secure a more favourable deal.
In the end, we managed to save them £30,756.23 on a flexible two-year deal on a leased space which will expand with Flowd so that they won’t have to move again anytime soon.
Morgan said: “There was a lot of back-and-forth, and Joe really supported us through that process. He made sure we got what we needed.
“We were so confident in the space that we recorded a video and shared it with the team. As soon as Joe confirmed, 'It’s yours,' we were over the moon. The team was incredibly excited, and we couldn’t wait to start counting down the days until the move.”
Even after the deal was secured, Joe continued supporting Flowd through every step of the move to ensure that everything went smoothly.
Morgan said: “This space has become the heart of Flowd, even though we have other locations, this is our headquarters, and it truly feels like home.
“Joe’s communication was excellent and he really kept things on track. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend LEVEL to anyone.”
Joe Averill, founder and Managing Director at LEVEL Workspace, said: “We loved working with Flowd and finding them the ideal new home, not just for now but for the future as well.
“Being able to take the time consuming office search off their plate and deliver a solution that hit the brief so perfectly while saving them so much money through negotiation was especially satisfying.
“They’re a modern, forward-thinking company and it’s exciting to think how big they will be in another three years’ time. Their new space at Calico gives them the right platform to grow and means they can keep expanding without having to worry about another move anytime soon.
“We wish them all the best and will keep a keen eye on their journey!”
